HI First post on the forum (except for the into section), so please be gentle. Searched Sky, but lots and lots of Results Couple of questions. 1) I have existing Sky equipment and wondered if I could use the existing dish and LNB and just use a different decoder to get the FTA channels. My local homebase have a HD decoder+dish and wondered if I could just "swap" the decoder. Would I need to re-align the dish or is it already set. For now I basically want the FTA channels. Whats available and how many satallites are there to choose from? 2) In any ones opinion, am I doing the right thing dumping Sky? Is FTA a better solution? Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome.
If you have a dish working with Sky, pretty much any reciever will get you the UK freesat channels just from plugging it in in the same way your sky box is now. There are alot of satellites up there, not all recievable in the UK, but a massive choice none the less, have a look here LyngSat - Lyngemark Satellite Weather Freesat is better than Sky is a matter of opinion, it really depends on what you want to watch.

Sky is better than FTA, but you have to pay for it, LOL
So, really depends on point of view, Cheap is better.

Thanks for the info.
The stuff I may miss on the sky channels are usually on the internet anyway with VOD. As I said, I am new to satellite FTA and still finding my feet. Is there any unit/kit you would recommend for HD? |

For 28E, the Humax HDR( twin tuner pvr) or Foxsat.
For multisat use, there are many many choices.
