Default do dm800 clones have a serious problem driving dishes?

i will cut a long story short guys,i have a dm800 box and motorised dish, and im having big problems getting i to drive teh dish.

my 500s box worked fine, but this is a different kettle of fish!

i have been reading that the boxes are fine, but they do not drive the dish well, depending on how good your clone is.they boxes are great,at one point i had everything tunes except 19.2e,but now i have three sats, and i cant move the dish at all.

i have tuned in 3 of the 7 sats i want, but i cant get the dish to move at all now.

heres my question...would the following device work to move the dish?im willing to just keep this on my sat feed to solve my problem, its an extra remote, but if it actually works,i will be over the moon.my dish is set up correctly and will pick up all sats,i know this because i had the WHOLE LOT working a few weeks ago.

Sat Dish Positioner DiSEqC 1.2 & 36v Reed Switch V500 on eBay (end time 21-Apr-10 17:53:24 BST)

can some one have a look and tell me if this will work.?

thanks guys!!

I don't know about the dm800.But with my 500s. I found that the only way to get the dish to go where it should was by using automatic transponder scan,or multiscan. Any other method and the dish just sat at 1w.

thanks for getting back.

would that device i have linked above, drive the dish manually, and then i can save the sat locked in the positioner menu on my dreambox, and then i can scan for chanels?

basically i have been told that device from ebay(link above) will allow me to manually drive my dish,i can then drive for a lock on the sat i am tuning in,save it,scan it,and then it will all be ok.

what you guys think?

I don't have a dm800,but I thought that it was just the 500s that was bad driving a motor.Knowing me I am probably wrong.
But have you had the motor working with the 800.If not maybe it is not setup right.

hi there, yes,it did work fine with my 500s,and i even used the same stored motor positions with the dm800,i had it all working using a guide i got from the person i got it from, and it worked fine, but slowly,as i tried to tune a few more sats in,i realised there was a huge problem, and the dish wasnt being driven when i was in the positioner menu.

i read all over the place on various forums atht the dm800 clones have a reputation for this, thats why i bought the item above, hopefully i can use this to drive the dish to what sat im tuning in,and then got for a loc, then save.

even if i have to use that itemi bought all the time,i dont mind,as long as i can fix it.

either that,or ist a call out for my satelite contact.probably costing about £70 or £80.
