Hello all,
my 5300d+ has been freezing with an LNB fault. I know for sure it is not an LNB fault as when the feed is disconnected and the unit cools down, it's fine for a while.

Unfortunately, it's past the guarantee. I've rang Technomate and they've quoted me £30 for a repair. The chap was qute helpful and told me that it was the TIP42C transistor that needs replacing.

Could someone advise as to which of the following is the better one?

An update:-

Since the minimum order with Farnell is now £20, I decided to buy the transistor from a seller Ebay. The STB is now working fine.

I've attached a photo showing the new and old side by side to highlight the damage.

Where abouts was the transistor? i.e on which board?

Can you post a photo? It may help others in the same scenario.
