i have a maxx1000 receiver, but i cannot connect it to the interner. it is connected to my router, and has aquired Dhcp. but when i want to up date the software through the internet, i says cannot connect to server. this is because i dont know what server to connect to and its IP address. can anyone help. Thanks

If you press MENU – INTERNET and only 4 options are available you need to press EXIT and then press Menu 8888 to activate all the menus . Select INTERNET there should now be 6 options.

Under MENU - INTERNET

AUTO UPDATE CHECK ON (T59 or later software only. Each time you turn on your box it will check to see if new software and/or keys are available, if they are read the onscreen information and select UPDATE to update)

Under NETWORK INFORMATION set
DHCP/STATIC to DHCP ( If IP address is all zeros set to static then back to DHCP, IP ADDRESS, SUBNET MASK and GATEWAY address should fill in automatically) PVR server IP address is your PC IP address but is only used if your are running the record to PC Hard disk software.

NEWCAMD is normally set to OFF.

Under PROXY CONNECTION set PROXY CONNECTION to OFF.

S/W UPGRADE, go to S/W UPGRADE feature section to check this setting.

nice one and thank you for the quick response. but the problem is that am not having the 4 items when i go to the internet settings. i just have 3 items. and i cannot see the newcamd even if i do the exit and do menu with the 8888. i think am just a novis and really dont know what to do. i want to set it up and get the shared servers from out of the box.

Max1000 sellers are known to be selling these receivers knowing that they won't connect to any server!

Ah you have found one of the problems with hard wired card shares..

The servers are vunerable to being removed by the authorities (or the boxes being sold without a server attached to it).

Ah well never mind you have a nice fta box!

ok so you mean my box is usless for the purpose i wanted it for?? i was told that once i get this box and connect it to the internet, i will get all the channels

If it wont connect you will never get all the channels.

You will never get ALL the channels anyway - theres still quite a few out there that cannot be hacked or opened in any way - all the PowerVu encoded stuff for starters.
