can i unbrick this modem using a usbjtag as my mother board doesnt have a parralel port on the back for the jtag to plug in to, there is already an 8 pin header soldered onto he board next to the max socket and i have a copy of toms jtag but do i need to buy a paralell card or will a usb jtag do it?

yes u can unbrick it with usb jtag but u will need to make up or buy a lead for it so it will work on the 2100 as it has different pin outs, and i dont fink toms jtag utility will work on it, it will need to firmware that is for ur usb jtag, depending on wot u got eg. blackat usbjtag, usbjtag/nt or sbh usbjtag.

i think toms jtag utility will work on haxomatic but i doubt you have got one of them.

it wont cost you much to make/buy a lead (a few quid) and then it will only take you 30-40 secs to reflash it.
