Edision Argus mini 2 in 1 IP Combo HD Satellite/DTT Receiver

Hi m8,

Have one on the way, should be with me in a day or two. From what I've been reading and checking out it looks good.
I've changed my LNB to a Quad one and aim to have this in one room and my other receiver in another, this way I can compare the results from both.
I'm also getting a UHF aerial as well in order to pick up the Digital stations and I have a Hard Drive on standby to fully test the box. Looks like I'll be busy over the next few days - I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks for your reply. I agree it looks like a nice piece of kit. My father wants me to set one up for him with a dish and an aerial so it looks like busy times ahead for both of us. I'll report back when up and running. Don't hold your breath though, could be quite awhile.

Just to add, I believe there is a firmware download available which allows use of a certain companys ftv card.

First impressions are good,

*Easy to use Menu System.
*DTT and Sat Stations can be combined on the one Favs list.
*Good picture quality.

Need to test out the Hard Drive and PVR system next.

Will post some photos later.

By the way getting great receipton on the DTT channels with very little required in the way of setting up the UHF aerial, just a matter of pointing it in the general direction of 3R. Also no need for too much height, have mine sitting on the roof of the shed and getting over 90% strength.
Also I love the multi coloured teletext, big change from the old bland one.

I have bought it. Was the last one in the shop, actually was the one in the showcase.

Good points:

• PVR easy to use especially with EPG and timer operations
• good downsampling of HDTV on PAL signal
• sensitive tuner and good blind scan features both for DVB-S and DVB-S2
• configuration backup and firmware upgrade via USB and RS-232
• alternative firmware permit to use some PPV card without buying a CAM module (personally tested on Irdeto2 cards)
• Freqent official firmware updates
• You can find some software utilites to edit channels, either via rs-232 or USB backup, load and save part of the firmware or change the boot logo

Bad points:

• Firmware a bit buggy:
  • sometimes the decoder will shut down by itself
  • if you change the name of the backup when making it, it will fail silently, and if you try to restore via USB the decoder will crash, so you'll need to restore the firmware via serial port
  • problems with motorized dishes: in USALS mode you can't add a satellite or modify a satellite longitude, if you use DiseQC you can't set the memory locatio on the positioner, and sometimes if you make adjustments it will write a different memory location
• you really need to get an external channel editor, especially with a motor (lucily there's one free)
• The remote has a lot of small keys and some functions are a bit cumbersome

My overall impresso is that the Edision mini is a good receiver for people that like to test and thinker a bit, and t's not well suited for people that prefer an easy to use system that are scared to make a firmware upgrade.
