Default Vonage

Just discovered VOIP and have subscribed to vonage.co.uk. I get line rental with a local number (can choose a number anywhere in the UK), free voicemail plus, caller ID, call diversion, call waiting, ringback when free and unlimited geographic landline calls - all for £6 per month for the first 6 months.

None of this USB phone rubbish either. I got an ethernet adaptor that plugs into my router and I use my normal home phone - the audio quality is brilliant (much better than BT).

You get a 30 day money back guarantee too, so well worth a look people

hope you claim your money back!

been playing VoIP for about 10 months...

i use http://www.voipcheap.com/en/index.html

No rental charge has such! just pay €10 every 120 day
free UK landline call

united kingdom (Landline) free* & most of euroland
united kingdom (Mobile) 5.57p
united kingdom [0845 rate]3.71p

Also very cheap worldwide

i use a WRT54GP2 router also have pap2 all unlocked.

the setting up of your provider is very easy also setting up your own router isn't difficult.

You also get a local number!
Example:-
0151 546 2552 (BT) Liverpool
0151 544 2552 (http://www.voipcheap.com/en/index.html)
0151 601 2552 (http://www.sipgate.co.uk) free registation

here a good link that will give info on providers & setting
http://www.netphonedirectory.com/internetcalls.htm

good luck

I looked at that but the website says you need a headset or USB phone and the PC on - limited to 300 minutes per week.

sipgate quotes .59p per minute - I can call free using call1899 on my BT line.

I'm still dead impressed with vonage, seems the best option for my second line

no you don't need headset or USB phone and the PC on.... this only for the software user... if you use a router/adpter...(simular to the one you got of vonage) you just put in the account details in & way you go....

Just had another look at voipcheap and I can't see how to get an inbound number - I've even downloaded the PC application, but the voip-in number setting is blank.

You need to credit the account with €10, then relog back in after 10 mins (web site only) then you will see your number!

Just looked at the voipbuster forum (a related company) it says there that they have been banned from issuing incoming numbers and existing numbers are being switched off.

I notice that sipgate will do you 1000 minutes for £5.99 (same price as vonage's unlimited plan), although you have to buy the hardware.

I spoke to someone yesterday using a skype phone and the call quality was lousy - best to keep clear of that one

Yes your right... they no longer issue numbers... this will be a massive blow to the company, but sipgate are good value!

you can get any unlocked router (PAP2, WRT54P2) and enter the sipgate details in to it...

have a look on ebay you can get a sipgate router (Netgear TA612V) for as little as £25! if you look around for a used one! also these can be unlock on the sipgate site so you can use line2.
