Advanced Micro Devices will come out with a new chip architecture next year, and it's not messing with the basic formula that has helped it take market share away from Intel.

Sounds like exciting stuff - AMD have been really attacking Intel on the chipset front.

I just wonder if the chip makers are not reaching a saturation level for their advancement. I am more than a generation behind now, and with a new one being announced.... I just don't have the need to be keeping up with the joneses. I really wonder what happends to AMD and Intel when the demand for new and improved processors does not keep up with the ability to create new chip designs.
