Default Sat Reception Question

Hi,

I have an 80cm dish with Diseqc motor and an invacom LNB. I'm using a pheonix apollo receiver with a T-Rex 4.6 cam.

I have my dish mounted on the wall of my house, so that it can only turn a maximum of 180 degrees. I can receive Hotbird, and Astra 1E but haven't had any luck with other sats. My question is, should i be able to receive other sats? I had thought that as the sats are in an 'arc', and if im receiving both Hotbird and Astra then I'd receive many more.

Is the fact that my dish is mounted on a wall the problem? or is it something else?

Sorry for being vague, im not an expert.

Thanks for any help.

I guess you could get Eutelsat W2 , Eutelsat W1 , W3 and maybe Astra2 as all of these sats are near Hotbaird and Astra.

Astra and hotbird are very strong signals in the UK, the next big one is 28 east and you should find that fairly easy.

If you are scanning round for other sateliites, its best to ensure that your installation is totally plumb (dead straight in all angles)... if this is off then you will not track the arc correctly .... Ideally you should position the motor/dish directly at due south (or the nearest satellite to where you are that is closest to south) ... once that is done it should be easier to move your dish with the correct tracking of the arc
