Sorry about that - inbox limit upped.

Anyway, this whole debacle proved very distracting from work so weblord has his original cash, and so far as I'm concerned, the matter is ended.

Good to hear it is resolved Brian. I had a similar situation a while back, and it was funny I got some sage advice from Confuscious. I got into a spat with someone, and it got heated, and I was spending all kinds of time and energy trying to resolve it and I was really just wasting my time.

Sometimes even when we are wronged or feel like we are wronged, setting things right is not always the best path, as we may end up doing ourselves more harm than good.

To be honest, I thought I was quite justified in issuing the chargeback.refund request - if I took my PC to have it's motherboard fixed, and when I went to collect it found the motherboard fixed but the monitor smashed in, I sure as hell wouln't be paying the vendor for that.

Although it would be difficult to prove beyond all reasonable doubt who the culprit was, without the proper legal procedure having been followed, I felt the circumstantial evidence was more than enough.

I also traced the offending emails that bounced to the Philippines, which also happened to be the users country. Too many big coincidences.

But I had to make the business decision as to whether to pay $70 back to stop the person, or waste time and probably money answering the smear campaign threatened across a large number of websites.

In the end, I figured option 1 was the better.

Ironically, on the main forum where the person made their allegations the thread was closed by the forum staff, the matter was taken to private discussion, and I've since had my repayment refunded with no threats or demands following on.

I guess the matter is closed, and hopefully will remain so. It's not often I get burned, but this was an extreme case.

And that quote by Confucius is great.

Good to hear Brian. Like I said, just from seeing how you conduct yourself and how he acted on that other forum, it was easy for me to determine which said I would lean towards.

Glad everything worked out. I found it amusing the crazy things some of the people on NamePros were suggesting even though it was clear something was a miss with one of their own.

Again, onward and upward.
