Default Disgruntled ex-member attacks Tech Watch

Well, sad to say, the ex-member of Tech Watch "weblord" appears to have started a malicious campaign against Tech Watch.

I found him repeatedly posting ads to TW with major link drops and so last night I removed his ads and warned him against future postings or else he would be banned.

He read my warning to him at 00:40 this morning.

From 00:50 onwards, the Tech Watch email address was suddenly:

1. Signed up to a few hundred email lists for the name "DICK SUCKER",

2. Used in a mass spam email campaign which included the content:

Quote:
visit our site: http://techwatch.co.uk
we hack into forums
3. Mass registration to FFA (Free For All link pages) for the title
Quote:
TECHWATCH.CO.UK - #1 FOR HACKED DOMAINS
by the user "DICK SUCKER".

Unfortunately this doesn't look like co-incidence, so weblord is now banned outright.

If you've received such spam in your own inbox, Tech Watch offers it's apologies for the inconvenience this ex-member may be causing to others, in his attempt to blacklist Tech Watch.

That is truely unfortunate, but not unexpected. I do not know weblord or anything about him, but I suspect he is probably young and lashing out at a percevied slight that was nothing more than you trying to manage your forums properly.

Obviously has some growing up to do.

Actually, according to his profile, he's 38.

But it is pretty sad. Luckily dealing with all the email spam that's being sent and bounced back is proving very easy to filter out - at the moment everything's being routed to Hotmail and the filters there take care of it all easily.

It's the first time I've ever encountered anything like this, though I've had to deal with real problem members before - returned Messiahs, NeoNazis, and volume forum spammers of course.

Well looks like he is still after you Brian. For 38, he does seem a bit childish. I hope it all works out. Perhaps it was just a misunderstanding. If he didn't do some work for you after you paid him, I don't blame you personally.

Obviously it can come down to a he-said vs he-said kind of deal, but if you then go beyond that and look at the actions, and behavior of both parties it is pretty easy to see where the potential problem is.

I've replied at namepros, but simply reiterated my position that I don't pay people to attack my sites or business, and not going to be blackmailed over the issue.

You misunderstand, sb225 - Techwatch itself as a domain has been maliciously signed up to hundreds of email lists, and mass email spam was sent out from proxies claiming that Techwatch hacked other forums.

Anyway, I've contacted weblord via PM at NP to see if we can get this silliness dealt with.
