There are dvd players which have a built in switch, or even are capable of reading any of the regions. but the price tags on them are still very high. too bad!!!!

So far as I understand it, a great number of DVD players are shipped out with software that will play all regions - but then have the ability to play any but the region being sold in turned off when it leaves the factory. So to turn it back on again, all you need to do is find the right way of inputing a specific code that will tell the software to play all regions again.

I believe there are quite a few websites that happily publish the codes required - usually involves nothing more than entering a sequence of numbers via your remote control while in a controls setting.

Beatrix ...please post what you find out from Sony. That would be much appreciated! I'm curious about ways of getting around the NTSC problems myself.
