Skystar HD version is available for about 100 Euros. The standard SS2 wont open pure HD channels.
Skystar2 has the most support as all the DVB software is written for this card.
There are also many clones of the Skystar.
Best software to use wit SS2 in my opinion is DVBDream as this is the most stable. Others are ok but not so stable and have too many updates.
Used with Vplug & S2emu the SS2 can open more than any STB on the market today. Even the Dreambox got its ideas from the SS2.
Your Pc needs to be a min of 2.8Ghz with a good graphics card. Nvidia 256Mb for example.
One very important point is that you need to make sure your motherboard supports 5 volt PCI slots as the SS2 needs 5 volts.
Some motherboards (eg:some Asus) have only 3.3 volt PCI slots and these wont power the SS2.
SS2 also can use Diseq switching and can have a card reader added.

Hope this helps
