Hi,
I live in east Norfolk UK and had a 1m. dish installed about 7 years ago by a professional. At that time I had an Irte Omnisat which allowed adjustment both east-west and up down. I could never get a signal on 16 degree east. Various stb, cards, cams later I decided to move my dish as my excellent neighbours tree had grown. Once moved and linked to a technomate stb via a manhattan stb used as a 36v. positioner I had difficulty aligning the dish with a sat meter. Whilst up the ladder I rested come of my weight on the dish - the sat meter almost deafened me! There is now a piece of metal jammed between the dish support arm and the bottom lip of the dish which is either distorting the dish or correcting a distortion from new and the signal strength on 16 degrees east is very strong. Strange what can happen by chance. chrisb |

Perhaps it was never aligned correctly from the first install.. as any distortion would show up on all satellites..
Instead of the metal can you not adjust the elevation slightly ?

hi chrisb,and cheers tony.
i had 80 cm dish that blew away one windy day and was dented and twisted. i managed to get most of dent out and remounted the dish .looking sideways at it you could see the twist. i gently applied pressure against the twist and managed to correct it. it was one of those alloy dishes with a fold around the circumference with signal strength meter and using a pair of pliers i tweeked the edges. i was return dsh to about 90% of its original gain. eventually i replaced it . |

Hi m8,big dishes are not that hard to instal,or allinment.
first you have get astra 19d e then try find 1digery west.that is your highest spoat then try 45d west. then you find 45d east. if you get east clear and don,t pick up west.try to move your polar mont move silightley east.of course you have to lose your polor mont, then re tighten.same as if you get more signal on west then move your dish to west from pouler mount. untel you get same signal from both side.you don,t need any dish meatre. i hope this will help you.if you need more help please let me know. |

And you can always do what i did, is set reciver and tv next to you so you can see when a picture comes and then a bit of fin tuneing and then away you go here take a look at this site:-http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Installation/Satellite-Heading-Calculator.htm ( good luck )

I think that could be if your live on the Greenwich line . Actually engineers use the push / pull method on the dish before tightening up completely. We had to do that with my fathers dish 1.2 metre dish after it blew down out of the wall taking the bricks with it. Being a welder he constructed a welded assembly to the coal barn, bricks back in the wall, extended wall brackets into the house and after alignment we got a better picture than the professional installation. I just did the geometry since maths is my subject .
