Default CT-5000C / CT-5000 and Hard Disk

This is a mini plea for help rather than advice on how to do it.

Having had a Buffalo Turbo 750GB drive connected up for months now with assorted versions of the software I didn't have too many problems except with 1.35p. 1.38p was fine and now 1.43p refuses to pick up my drive with a failure rate of 80 percent. I can click the unit on and off with the remote and work this out !.

I dropped back to version 1.38p and all is fine. What is annoying me is that a few people have this issue but in the main people don't but then reading peoples posts they seem to hot plug in the drive when the unit is running which basically isn't using it as a PVR. Mine has always worked by switching the drive off when not in use and automatically spinning it up when in use. ie. you can put it on timed record. I don't really want to leave the drive running 24/7.

Anybody got and tips or hints to sort out my problem ?. I'm hoping word will get back to the developers and they will put an extra delay in during boot up. That's what it wants, it's fine on a memory stick. Unfortunately the nice little German speaking club that don't have an issue with this in the main may not bother with sorting this out since if they don't have the problem they may not be arsed.

Time will tell unless there is some other trick or tip that I haven't thought off.

My problem remains with 1.43p. 1.38p is fine and is 100% in finding the drive everytime. 1.35p I found problematic when I went on holiday and it had skipped several programmes. Mind you, you can't record radio on these P versions above and including 1.35 which you could with the one before.

So I assume that Krakow and Chafpa you're like me and find 1.43p useless at the minute, all linked to big drives. Someone, somewhere was crowing the merits of a "Logitech Premium 4-Port USB Hub for Notebooks - hub - 4 ports" as fixing all their problems but that wasn't in relationship to 1.43p but an older version of the software.

I already use a "Belkin (F5U271) Card Reader" which gives you Hi-Speed USB 2.0 3-port hub & 15-in-1 Media Reader/Writer and when that isn't connected the my 750gb drive with 1.43p won't even boot up at all. When it is connected it's boots up with about a 20 percent chance. This is good for reading in USB sticks [the upgrades and keys] and playing pictures on photocards with fiddling with the USB sockets.

So basically these hubs can be helpful but I don't fancy wasting money on another one if it isn't going to fix the problem and you never know the next version of the software may fix it. I'm just irritated that the developers of 1.43p shipped something that clearly is buggy and few people are taking them to task about it.
