Default Please help, Clarke HD 5000C dead after software update.

I am in serious problem with my new HD 5000C receiver.
The receiver don’t start up after software update with CTECH5000C_135.STB
When I turn power on, the display say “loading” and “start up”,
The message “start up” stay on display and nothing happen.

Before updating with CTECH5000C_135.STB I has CTECH5000C_138.STB inside Clarke-Tech.
The purpose with going back to CTECH5000C_135.STB was to verify some errors I found in
CTECH5000C_138.STB and CTECH5000C_143.STB.

Default Please help, Clarke HD 5000C dead after software update.

Download original firmware from Clarke-Tech website..

Start your Loader program and select the original firmware..

Turn off your stb.. wait 2 minutes.. then start the loader running to load firmware..

Now turn on your Ctech and hopefully it will begin to install original firmware..

Good luck..

I can break in here. From my reading of CT fan boards when you load up with anything above 1.35 with a p on the end which you have done it creates something bigger which then means it's impossible to go backwards unless you give it special treatment. You can't go backwards via the USB, you have to do that via the RS232 cable and you have to use that software as mentioned CTECH Uploader 1.9.1 [well the latest from the web site] since the 1.38p and 1.43p are big... or something.

Then you have to use a stb file which I've kept a copy of on a USB since it was hard to find when people were chirping on about it, in German which I'd have to translate. It's called the "downgrade" software with a file name of "CTECH5000C_downgrade.stb".

Then this is what they said:

>>
To downgrade to old version, please "CTECH5000C_downgrade.stb" file should be loaded together.
"CTECH5000C_downgrade.stb" will work with both 5000 and 5000C.

For example: load "CTECH5000C_downgrade.stb" and then the suitable correct software

* As you may already know, when the receiver stays in " start up ", you should use PC Tool CTECHUP and RS232 serial cable.
At first, press the "Start" button on PC Tool CTECHUP , and next, just power off and on the receiver, then downloading will be started.

<<

This is my German translated text I saved:

>>
Description: This file " CTECH5000C_downgrade.stb" removes illegal patches! " CTECH5000C_downgrade.stb" 5000C is
suitable for both receivers 5000 and. File into the receiver " CTECH5000C_downgrade.stb" and afterwards the desired
firmware The possibility over RS232 of up-passing on firmware must be present!!

After bring in from " CTECH5000C_downgrade.stb" the receiver still stands in " start up" !

Bring the correct firmware in now with PC tools CTECHUP and a zero-modem cable.

Receivers in the switched off condition to the PC attach.

Correct firmware file under BROWSE, CONNECT and START select press receivers with switch on the back switch on.
<<

I note they are talking about "CTECHUP" as the copy across tool. You could Google this, either way I recall that the latest one of the CT website for null modem is good... that could be that one.

Best of luck. I don't think I'm crossing on what Tony said, it's just that the recent p versions screw your box when you go backwards if you don't follow protocol. I know no end of people have been having issues on the German board...

As for me I'm stuck using 1.38p since I don't want to gamble going backwards if I can help it, whilst 1.43p is rubbish with my drive since it doesn't wait long enough at boot up to pick it up, whilst 1.38p does. The picture looks better with 1.43p and it does have other functionality but since as far as I've concerned it's crap as PVR software I'm kind of hoping that the developers will come out with an upgrade and they might fix the USB drive issue.

What annoys me is if the original software supports your USB drive then any p versions should as well. The developers of the p versions have failed if they screw it up so the software doesn't. The impression I get is if you have a baby drive or partition it works with 1.43p.

Lastly 1.35p I also found problematic on picking up the drive, 1.38p works every time. Got that out of my system .

OK did the google myself CTECHUP is the CT software, you just need the latest release but as said you need that special STB file etc.

I've posted up in the tools section the STB downgrade file.

Best of luck and report back .

Default Hip hip hurra my Clarke-Tech 5000C work again

Josh and parad0x_i thanks very much.

I follow instructions from Josh.
I have connected my Clarke to PC RS232 connector using zero modem cable.
Start CTECH Uploader 1.9.1 program, get CTECH5000C_downgrade.stb and turn Power ON, on my Clarke.
Clarke start updating/erasing and after few minute I get message on PC screen that version 1.35 is detected. It was no necessary to download 1.35 version
Thank for help.

I have same experience as Josh about problems with 1.43p version. Its not reliable with my “Western Digital My Book Essential Edition 2.0 500GB USB2.0” it works only with my USB stick.

I working on error list for Clarke-Tech HD 5000C and will post this list later.

Best regards

Glad it's sorted. As I understand it you copied into the box the CTECH5000C_downgrade.stb file that then fixed the problem and you didn't then have to upload 1.35.

I think the problem stems from the newer p versions being loaded in odd places of the box since they are bigger [as they say] then you can't go backwards if you don't undo what the developers did via the upgrade which is more of a manual process.

Perhaps someone here who may know how to contact the developers could ask them to sort out support for the drives !!!!. I'll be interested to read your problems list.

To be honest Josh am not sure who is doing the software for this box..

Yabbervox does it for the other CTechs..

hmmm Lazy who posts it up here didn't post up the 1.43 after I pre-empted him and said that it was rubbish, so I may have influenced him, although as noted people are getting it from other sources. Least the other board is now saying 1.38p is the best one at the minute, that's from one of the moderators, so least issues in it have been identified to a point where they have stopped pushing it. I'm sure 1.43 will be fine once they sort the boot up of hard disk drives and the issue of the softcam and the Austrian channels.

Joah ciao,

new user of this forum, I have a problem with my new CT 5000 HD Combo Plus. When I switch it on, what appears is "loader" and later "start up" and then starup again.. in a loop. It doesn’t advance and it doesn’t respond to any key.
Read about Db eraser firmware rather than CTECH5000C_downgrade.stb, first of all I don't know where can I find these 2 files, and I'm not sure about the procedure to be adopted.
Could you please help me ? thanks in advance for your kind coolaboration.
