Help needed

Hi guys...fairly new at this but can anone explain to me how to use this tool to upload k*ys to my C-tech 2100+?

Also, I am not sure how to connect my clarke to my PC other than using a memory stick (USB), I dont have a serial port on my laptop (nobody has this port anymore???) so ... confusing!...

Would appreciate any help

Serial port you can buy a little box that does USB to serial which is what I use ie. laptop to serial port via the USB of your lap top. That's called a USB serial convertor, got mine from Maplin's if you are in the UK.

Mind you the USB of your sat box is always faster but for certain operations you need the serial port err... unless programme does away with this ?. Those certain operations are taking a copy of the programme list etc. Perhaps someone can advice whether this software does that ?. I wouldn't think so. It must be for assembling the p version uploads with latest keys on your PC which is sort of what Emilio is saying, I think, then copy over on USB stick and use the regular box memory.

You might still needs that "USB serial convertor" for the more tricky stuff.

If you do buy a USB to Serial adapter then make sure it comes with the driver on Cd.. as some are selling the adapters with no software claiming windows will sort it out.. when it wont.. :wink_smile:

Thanks for your answers guys, very usefull... Will go to Maplin and buy this as I already have the null modem cable.

IS there an user-guide available for this USB tool? I undestand you need to select your receiver type + language and then "update", but I am not sure how to use it with a K*y file...there is no upload option or anythign... any ideas?

Just looked.. there is no Readme inside that file.. and sorry but most files come without instructions (no idea why!).. So it's a case of figuring it out.. unless someone else will tell you..

Mine came with a really baby CD disk, like 2" across it. As far as serial number is concerned I can't find that. It had a little box that it does into. Looking at the Maplins site some don't seem to have this gizmo box. I'd hunt for one with the gizmos since it's converting USB to serial.

Lasentence the serial convertor came into it's own when I was getting ITV HD which I've published around here under tutorial since you use it to twig with the settings of the channel in the box to bye pass the thing they did to stop FTA boxes getting it. As far as scrambled channels are concerned the little USB uploads which you find around here do the trick so you don't normally need to hack around at individual tables and that's via the 8282 menu of the p software or I think with what we're talking about is some assimilation of codes in the PC and upload via the software. That is one route there are others. Being a bit lazy, busy and also running the T-Rex as well for the unique benefits of viewing etc [we're not allowed to talk about it here] I end up double running stuff so if I can't get it one way I try the other.
