Default LNB fault

I have lost a lot of channels all of a sudden. I checked the dish alignment which is spot on. I now assume I have an LNB problem? Any ideas? If its the LNB, which is the best one?

thanks.

Ian

You mention the rain... and this may be the problem with water getting into the coax..
Make sure the F connectors are sound and well protected from the rain...

Check the polarities of the lost channels.. If they are for example all H or all V.. it will point to a possible voltage problem..
If they are all high band or all low band channels then it could be the 22khz tone isn't switching the LNB..

You can check the voltage output from your receiver with a DC Voltmeter set on a 20v scale..
Horizontal and vertical channels are 18v & 14v (approx)

Default LNB fault

Tony,

I went up and checked it, There is a big hole at the front of the LNB, looks like there was some kind of plastic cover. Anyway, its got a hole in it where water has entered, I need a new LNB. Anyone recommend a good replacement?

thanks,

Ian

Sorry Ian only just saw your reply..

Depends on your budget..

Besides already suggested..

Low Cost:
Titanium 2nd Edition - ok general purpose
Titanium 1st Edition - Better than 2nd!
Medium Cost:
BlueLine - Good LNB with decent spec
Higher Cost:
Invacom 031H - V.good with excellent spec
Invacom Q31 - Excellent quad (has better performance than single & double)

db figures are just a 'tag' - you get what you pay for!

Took it down, had an egg cupfull of water inside it, now in the bin. Put an Inverto .2dB in its place, working spot on, pulling in more channels than before.

thanks to all replies.
