Default Dm8000

Greetings,

I’ve been thinking of upgrading my satellite receiver and have been waiting for the release of the new DM8000.

I have now found a couple of sites selling them but I am confused by the massive price difference between what appears to be the same unit.

Can anybody throw any light on what’s going on? Is one a fake/clone?

DM8000 £869.00
DM8000 £405.00

Have many been bought yet? any reviews?

Thank you

Default Price difference!

Hi, I recently got the DB 8000. I bought mine for about $1500, so I think both prices are not so realistic although the 405 pounds one is closer to what it should be. Mind you I bought mine in Dubai where these receivers are "illegal" and the markup on them is considerable, like any smuggled goods!!
Another note to consider is where the device is manufactured, I heard you can get a Chinese-made model (almost identical) for much less than the German made one (I think it is German made!!).
Anyway, there is also the option of a Blue-ray DVD player vs a HDD and that makes a good difference as the Blue-ray is more expensive than HDD, mine has a 1TB HDD (worth $200 vs $500 for good Blue-ray DVD players).
Unfortunately, I do not use most of the functions available on this device (recording, time shift ...etc), but they do not seem to differ much from the DB 800 model other than the built-in HDD or Blue-ray and the cooler running temperatures! I do not recommend the 800, though, I had endless problems with it especially the error of not recognizing the channels when you switch from one sat to the other and the error message of "SID not found" which no one was able to help me with for six months before I gave up on it and got the 8000, it also gets VERY hot, but other than that it runs!
I hope this was helpful, I am not a very knowledgeable when it comes to sat receivers.
