Hi Tony

Well I took along my Echolink and started all over in setting up the dish. It was actually spot on with the longitude/lattitude and only needed the finest of tweaks to the elevation. The net result is that the Technomate's tuner picks up anything from nearby satellites whereas the Echolink is more accurate in what it finds and tunes in to. You were exactly correct in saying that I would not get Nilesat. In fact I get nothing to the west of Thor.

The Technomate nearly always reported 100% signal strength and quality, whereas the Echolink varies between transponders on the same satellite.
