Hi, i have read a couple of these before, but none seem to answer my specific problem. I currently have 1 wireless router (Linksys WRT54G) with 4 wired ports. My roomates use the wireless for their laptops, with the router located in my room to connect my PC and Xbox 360 wired.
The problem is my roomates are getting tired of the blue cord running from their bedroom (only cable-access spot) to my room, so I need to know if its possible to use another wireless router (probably another Linksys WRT54G) in my room, to connect my stuff with wires (the wireless adapter for the Xbox 360 is $100, which I dont want to spend at the moment) and send it to the second wireless routerin their room, to eliminate the blue cord running everywhere. (short version) Wired PC & Xbox 360 --> Wireless & Wired Router --> Wireless Router --> Cable Modem Its this, or i gotta drop $150 to get my PC and Xbox Wireless. Thanks Guys! |

You could always like at using bluetooth connectors instead of wired ones - I figure that shouldn't be too much of a technical challenge? If not, you could look at getting a bluetooth docking station and set up wireless USB connections instead of the wires. I'm *presuming* that's a solution, but do advise if you can't get wireless connectors for your devices - not sure about the Xbox as don't have one.

The Linksys WRTGs have a special mode that you can use to chain them together. As long as you buy another linksys you will be able to do what you want very easily.
So just spend the $50 on another Linksys and hook them up. |

I spent a whole weekend working on this for the same reason. I'm too tight to buy the XBox wireless adapter!! LOL
It is possible but not as easy as you would think using 2 routers. A better option is 1 router and a wireless gateway/extender. If you must do it router to router then you will need a router that has a client mode option. This usually only comes on high end kit. But.... The Linksys has a trick up it's sleeve. DDWRT. Using this third party firmware will turn your router into an all singing all dancing bit of kit. The firmware also works with certain other routers. I managed to flash it on to a Belkin. Look here... News
