Hi... does anyone know of a wifi circuit that can be build or bought that can interface both with my wifi computer network (laptop running XP and a D-Link dsl-904 kit) and a separate custom built electronics circuit? (could provide a wireless vfd display?

Not entirely sure what you are trying to do, but if the seperate item is custom built why could not it be designed to work on a traditional wifi network? That seems like it would be the best solution.
