If by moving the dish up, down, left or right and the signal does not change. I would assume that:

1) The dish is not pointing in the right direction.
2) The LNB is bolloxed.
3) Break in the coax.

Was the dish and LNB alreadt setup and all ya trying to do is get a receiver to work?

your system should lock off automatically if sufficient signal strength, if your signal bars are static could be faulty cable, i had this problem once, check cable ends and cable for cuts/breaks

It's not easy to allign your dish by using the digibox diagnostics - there is always a delay between finding the signal and the digibox displaying it.

You really need a meter of some sort - or some good luck

are your cable ends connected properly ie, outer copper/siver shield must be in contact with outer screw fitting / inner core cable must enter lnb/digi box by minimum of quarter inch the inner core and outer shield must not touch each other, is next door of the same aspect as yours,

The box should just come on, but it takes a short while to lock, thats why it's difficult to allign a dish using a digibox as a meter.
