Default Please help with missing channels

Back in Nov I purchased a Hauppauge Nova S2 card & a sat dish in order to receive as many TV channes as poss & in particular looked forward to HD reception. My pc runs vista premium & my static dish is receiving 98% sig strength from 28.2E.Since then really tried to get whole thing working, visited many forums but without great success. Having tried many others I am now using DVB viewer purchased & upgraded to latest version.Recently I downloaded the dvb files from parad0x_i's postings & carefully installed these files as per instructions. Do I need a vplug application in addition to files installed?
Also we cannot get BBC3,4,Five US/+1,Fiver/+1, nor any encrypted channels listed.Don't want to break any rules but would like as many stns as poss. Can you help please - afraid I am a computer novice but willing to try. Thanks.Steve

Ok Steve..

First off.. Vista being a fairly newish o/s (operating system) can cause a few problems with DVB-S cards & USB Sat-Boxes simply because most hardware was designed for the earlier o/s
S2 is also a recent development and has it's own share of problems as most viewer softwares were written for the Skystar 2 using the Skystar SDK (Software Development Kit)
So Steve you have to overcome these drawbacks..

Let's take it a step at a time..

Are you able to watch FTA channels without any problems..?
..and can you watch any genuine HD channels..?

If no then let's sort this out first after your reply..

If you can watch them without a problem then the next step is to ask if you have ticked the 'Has CI Module' .. If not then tick it now in DVBViewers
Settings > Options > Hardware

Download the latest Vplug 2.4.0 from the DVB Plugins section
and install it to your DVBviewers Plugins folder.. (Remove all Cccam files first)
Download the DVB keys here:-

http://www.satmoz.com/forum/showthre...652#post176652

.. unrar them and copy them into the Plugins folder also

Now turn your dish to say 1W.. where we know we can clear channels.. and test to see if you can clear A DigiTv channel successfully..
You should be able to..
Let us know how you get on

Btw.. You should be able to open FTA except Five and maybe Fiver

Default Further on missing channels ..

Many thanks to ParadOx_i for helpful reply again. I have followed your advice & deleted the files previously downloaded from Maumixio's post (6.1.09) ie removed 5 files from md plugins (folder now empty) & 2 files from plugins folder.
Essentially DVB Viewer is working & stable & yes we can receive a lot of channels including BBC HD & ITV1 HD (after installing AC3 filter & playing with settings). Yes "Has CI module" is ticked. I don't expect to receive "pay for" channels from $ky however, a lot of channels that I thought were free are shown in the channel list as encrypted (Five US/+1, Fiver/+1) & we can't receive.
BBC 3 & 4, Channel 4HD are do not show in the channel list & we can't receive. Interestingly, E4/+1 & Channel 4/+1 are shown as encrypted yet we can view these channels.
As regards turning the dish to 1W, I've looked on dishpointer and this is not possible as the dish is mounted on an east (ish) facing wall and resiting dish is not a practical option.
Any further guidance would be really appreciated.

Default Please help with missing channels

Sent you a Pm regarding the Edit..

I shouldn't have assumed you could move your dish.. but the motorised dish setup is what most sat enthusiasts have..
..and we are enthusiasts and not just people trying to get something for nothing..

If you are using a static dish set on 28.2 then there isn't much we can discuss as most of those channels belong to the $ky uk package which is a disallowed subject where non-$ky equipment is concerned
I am sure Vplug will work if installed as i described above and your DVBviewer seems to be working fine
The 'missing' channels often appear as numbers or 'unamed' so you need to do some investigating yourself to find them..
I suggest you use
Code:
www.lyngsat.com
and note down the frequency of each channel you want to find.. and then view the DVBv channels list and search for those frequencies or do a manual scan to add them..

As previously mentioned some channels will not open because they come under the $ky (Frees*t) package.. and we can't discuss them here..

Your original post was that you want to receive the most channels possible.. with the equipment you have
So if your dish is a region 1 or 2 static dish then a larger dish with a multi-LNB setup or a motor would be the next step to accomplishing this

Default having problems finding channels

I am having a similar problem. I am in the middle east. I hook of my FTA box and I gain access to over 600 channels. I then hook up my SkyStar 2 USB box and it brings in only few channels from Asianet network, which does not show on my FTA box. I tried your advice above and went to http://www.lyngsat.com/hb9.html to find the specific channels, but the software (and even Setup4pc) cannot recieve a signal on the defined frequencies. I have installed ProgDVB, DVBViewer Pro, and DVBDream.

Let me know what other information you need.

I appreciate your guidance to solve this, because I am excited to be able to record shows off FTA channels.

Thank you.
