Hi All
I'm struggling to find out the way to upload and / or download data between my laptop and my opticum 4000c. I did not found too many manual on the google. What i would like to do is to set the channels to the sequence as I like it. I have a Toshiba 4090 XCDT ,Win XP, Toolbox_1.6_Opticum.exe , Null modem cable. I did connected the ports, I did set the bit rate to 115200 on the laptop ,so and so. When I start the Channel editor it is trying to connect to the box but after like 30 seconds it comes up with a fault message, something like it can not connect. Can any body help me to find a good tutorial so I can learn how to upload / down load data ? May be I have to set my box to a special channel or the null modem cable wiring isn't right or somethings else. Thanks for your help. script_ |

Hi m8..
I have uploaded a manual for your receiver here:- http://www.satmoz.com/forum/showthre...877#post179877 I doubt it will solve your problem but you may find it useful in general Your stb has the Ali chipset.. and Nih@sh is our expert on Ali chipsets.. so perhaps he can help you when he gets here.. Most laptops don't have an RS232 now so i wonder if you are using the USB/RS232 adapter.. If so then i would suspect this as your problem.. If you do have a genuine RS232 then check it in device manager and set the baud rate lower than you have done to around 9600 Check your null-modem cable.. pins 2 & 3 are transposed from each connector.. and pin 5 is straight through..

Thanks for a quick response. I'm using the mentioned laptop because it is quiet good for setting up PLC-s and it has a real parallel port. The baud rate originally was set to 9600 on the laptop. When I opened the channel editor's settings I saw the channel editor baud rate is 115200 and no settings available. That is the reason I set the laptop the same. I certainly will check the null modem cable thanks for the wiring info as well. Is there any specific channel where I need to set the box in case of data transmission? Or could you tell me the process please? Thanks for the manual :-) |

Parallel port is not the one to do this.. RS232 is a serial port..

Sorry ,serial port ....true, true,
I did checked the Null modem cable pins 2 & 3 are transposed from each connector.. and pin 5 is straight through. I think the other pins are not in use. So I did not checked. So i'll tell you what I'm doing step by step. 1. /Real serial ports/ Connected 2. Laptop boot up / Win XP 3. box is on , up and runing 4. start the program called : Opticum 4000c and series 5. In the menu I'm chosing the Ali editor 6. go to upload STB-->PC 7. give a name for the file. 8. save 9. Then it says ''Test serial port status'' 10. It comes up with the error message => Serial port probe error 11. Set the baud rate back to 9600 from 115200 12. comes up with the same error message as above. Any idea? Thanks in advance :-) |
