Hi, here is guide to get Clarke working if dead.
The attached guide and files are from Clarke support department. The described in instruction RS232 cable is not standard cable, if you don’t want make the RS232 you can buy one en electronic shop. You must ask for “zero modem” RS232 cable. Krakow |

This is the thing you have to do if you downgrade from 1.35 to a lower serial number.... the developers neglected to say that it stuffed your box. I've done it once and it worked fine when I was investigating old software with the hard disk problem knowing that I'd have to carry out this procedure.
Paradox at the time or may be Compass termed it a cold boot or something like it and it's fairly common on digital sat boxes when you have to rescue them via the RS232. Not so common that one knows about the procedure without being told and as said the trail of CT software if you go backwards over the 1.35 barrier, stuffs the box up.

Hi,
I've just had a similar failure on my 5000 combo plus. I couldn't get the Ctech up software EXE to work. The EXE couldn't find my COM port (or so I thought). I almost gave up. Then I read somewhere you need to turn off the power at the back and then on after you press connect. Then it works. This is not clear in the above PDF. To clarify this is how it worked with me. Connect Serial to unplugged Ctech box Turn PC on Plug in box at mains Run CtechUP EXE Browse for CTECH5000C_downgrade.stb firmware in CtechUp software window Run COM auto detect Turn on box at rear switch Press connect in window (even if no com detected) Turn off box at rear Turn on box at rear Downgrade firmware will load In a similar fashion upgrade then to new STB firmware Hoping it also works for all of you sweating with a dead box.... |

My German translated file I keep on a USB with the rest of the stuff read:
>> Description: This file " CTECH5000C_downgrade.stb" removes illegal patches! " CTECH5000C_downgrade.stb" 5000C is suitable for both receivers 5000 and. File into the receiver " CTECH5000C_downgrade.stb" and afterwards the desired firmware The possibility over RS232 of up-passing on firmware must be present!! After bring in from " CTECH5000C_downgrade.stb" the receiver still stands in " start up" ! Bring the correct firmware in now with PC tools CTECHUP and a zero-modem cable. Receivers in the switched off condition to the PC attach. Correct firmware file under BROWSE, CONNECT and START select press receivers with switch on the back switch on. << So it does talk about switching on and off. It's called something in the satellite trade since Compass or Paradox mentioned it elsewhere, the thing is you have to be in the know to do this and generally when you accidentally mess your box up you aren't prepared. When the p version of 1.35 came out that was the road bump that meant that boxes had to be down graded and a lot of people had this issue but if you we're reading German forums you could be stuck.
