Default Spyware Removal Programs

What are the better spyware removal programs out there? I tend to use Search and Destroy most often (I also use Ad-Aware), but would like to know if there are other options out there I'm missing.

I think if you have S&D and AdAware you probably have some of the strongest tools for spyware removal - but it really does need emphasising that the best way to avoid malware is to surf safely - use Firefox especially, and try to avoid visiting high risk sites (porn, screensavers, etc).

I really don't know a whole lot about firefox. Why exactly do you feel this is better to use?
I use Search and Destroy and have really had no problems.
Thanks

I have F-Secure Anti Virus in my PC having WindowsXP home edition. Is this enough or do you recommend any other spy removal soft ware? Can I use that along with F-Secure? Earlie I had Norton Anti Virus. But one day my hard disc had failed. ( Now I have a new had disc)...!

I used Avira Antivir Personal Edition Classic. I think this is effective. I have used Ad-ware before but suddenly I had a system shut down. Now I bought another one and I used Avira Antivir for Windows XP. I got the same question as gsnarayanan. Hope anyone will give explanation.

One that I like to use is XoftSpy. I find that it catches stuff that my Norton was not. I think you can go to their site and have them run a freesample scan of your hard drive, so you can see how it works.

I switched from SpySweeper to Spybot because it got better reviews and has the added advantage of being free. Spyware Blaster is another nifty little tool that's free. I also use Ad Aware, WinPatrol, CA AntiVirus and ZoneAlarm.

The Spyware and Adware on my laptop got so bad that I just gave up and sent it to the local computer shop to get fixed. *sigh*

But now you've installed a firewall, virus checker, and anti spyware and adware, right? My husband takes care of problems like that for friends. It takes a little bit of doing but it's not nearly as complicated as the price at the computer shop would make you think. And it feels good to be able to take care of it yourself, beyond the savings.

The guy installed something on the laptop to further defend it. At least the cost of the repair was tax deductible since I use my computer to work.
