*p versions for 5000C?

Hi,

I'm just blind or there was no new *p version after 162p for the CT5000C? Official FW is at 179 now.

By the way, I asked CT for a cumulative list of changes but they say they do not have it. Just incredible... I think that in every fw package they should put a complete changelog. Anyone has such a beast?

Actually Clarketech normally attach text file with a little info about changes.
In ver. 179 they write:

- added Dolby Digital Plus
- new pre programmed channellist
more coming soon.....

I keep checking that web site, well once per week where those not so friendly guys hang out and nothing on p versions. My theory is that a lot of the CT market was for German speakers and once Prem changed their cards and system, the market fell away for the p versions. Also as we know some of the stuff isn't available via patched boxes so you are better off with a CAM, like the Diablo Lite and cam programmer.

Another factor is that some of those p versions were terrible and not properly tested. It even got to the stage when the official version of the software followed after the p version with the same bugs in it. So it was clear to me that the guys writing the software must be related . I think they may now get paid good money to write the official versions and may be CT recognised that the software they were shipping was getting pretty crappy.

I'd much prefer the official versions that are solid and CAMs to do the clever stuff with, than dodgy software that the box runs under and crashes as well.

Thanks for today's info Krakow on 1.79, I'll up grade. Note these official updates are coming fast and thick now after we use to have nothing months.

Yes, I saw this; what I asked to the CT guys if they have somewhere a full list with all the changes (for example, from 1.62 up to 1.79). Should be a simple matter of attaching together all the readmes... that's what normally is called a changelog, and it's a lot more useful than just the last change.

Has anyone all the FW posted to the official page? I wouldn't mind to compose a changelog and post it here, I had a bit of skill with scripting languages...

1.62p was posted on "that site" on 23.02.09, so six months later they finally come up with the another p version. I can only think some strong arm tactics were used by CT to ensure that rubbish was not posted up of versions that collapsed or theory 2, the programmers got paid good money to write official code.

No yayya there were not any updates since then. That site not Paradox's link is populated by arrogant tossers [oops] so you don't get very good answers from them. Some pretend they are in the know, others post garbage and others sit around burning up other posters that ask decent questions.

The unzipped official releases say what each does, but the p versions are very much suck it and see, and became very unreliable in the functioning of the box. So in some ways I'd had enough of the p versions, so was kind of good to have a break for six months from the anarchy. May be if 1.79p is just a tweak of 1.79 it won't crash the box, hang the drive etc and so form. It's when they got a life of their own they we're very good and then to cap it the official version about 18 months ago got all the bugs of the p ones that the p developers had been releasing in the meantime. My suggested solution was to slap the programmers around and may be they did that, since CT just had rubbish software upgrades in their boxes during this phase.

Oh yes and the zip file for 1.79p says:

Ah well I might get dissed on there for dissing them here, but it's the German speaking CT site I'm talking about which is the natural home for German speakers of the CT box . But I do know other people who I've been on contact with who get somewhat pissed of by attitudes there. It's a shame since technically there is some good stuff but since I don't speak German have to use translation on the main side, then you get jumped at since it's only for German speakers [LOL] and not translation software...
