Default Clarke Tech Softcam Question

Hi,

Being a newbie i was wondering , with the softcams for clarke tech, does the new upload overwrite the previous keys/version etc or does it add the keys.

If it adds to the keys, is there a base file to start off with?

Thanks for any advice and apologies if this has been asked previous.

Cheers

Shaun

It will overwrite the previous softcam.key but don't worry as the softcam has all the necessary keys updated.. and the one's that didn't change are also there..

You can open it in Notepad.. to compare

Don't forget to sort out the null modem cable, the PC / laptop connection, the back up of the channel list and then you will be in a safe position if the box crashes and wipes out the channel list or corrupts the main programme code of the box. Both can be uploaded via this method. The USB doesn't work for uploading the programme if the box gets corrupted or if you decide to load up [if it's a CT5000] a release below 1.35 and go back again... it's dead without the errr. whatever it's called method to put the programme back again. Thread covers it on the CT pages around here or was around here.

On a note re the soft cam I didn't get digi to work on the one posted up as of Sunday, so went back to trusty Diablo Lite. This was more of a test. I think that cams are better than soft cams in boxes.

@Josh
I just opened and read that Sunday softcam made by Fredi and the DigiTv key is correct and present but is only under Ident 2111 and maybe your last softcam was by another who had DigiTv as Ident 2011..

Just make sure your usb to rs232 adapter comes with it's own driver software as you will need to install it first.. Then should be ok..

Default Clarke Tech Softcam Question

With Vista I had nothing to install it was just plug and play USB to RS232 9 pin for my laptop. That's a google on what a null modem cable is... bring back the days if RS232 .

Code:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Null_modem
I bought my USB to RS232 9 pin converter from Maplins and selected the null modem cable to fit with the correct pin out.

It was the Fredi one but it didn't like the 1.79p for CT5000C, so it appears.

The help message with 1.79p does say:

>>
Only patched, no K**s updated, no digi tv au !!

To build whole s/w with new structure is in process
++Yabbervox++
<<

So it sort of sounds like they haven't sorted out this part.

For the purposes of scientific what not I went back to my old copy of 1.62p, put both of Fredi's files in released as per Sunday, no joy, so inherently there is something that isn't working in 1.62p and 1.79p with the digi tv keys I'd say on the CT5000C. As I much promote you can't go wrong with a diablo cam and programmer, softcam's and card's can't cut it. There are more people out there working with cam software.

I think the grousing on the CT5000 side about p versions is not the p shell but having codes that work. From my reading the p version's cam supports more official cards than than the official version. I suspect CT may be going more legal these days perhaps.

Hey presto I push the diablo cam back in and digi tv back again .

That's interesting.. as i couldn't see anything wrong with his actual Digi keys..
The only thing i can think of is that you have an old 2011 key that wasn't updated and then had the 2111 key added.. so they will conflict
