Default Freeview in Ireland Using MPEG4

I've just ordered a new 6900 super plus today to replace my aging 1500CI and to enable me to get HD channels. I was wondering will this unit be able to decode the soon to be rolled out Freeview service in the Republic of Ireland which is going to use the MPEG4 format instead of the UK's MPEG2 ?

the Tuner is a terrestrial DVB-T and not DVB-T2, the video decoder is decoding Mpeg II & IV and H.264.
If Ireland stays in DVB-T and not switches to DVB-T2 you have a change this works.
Code:

BBC is switching to DVB-T2
Code:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVB-T2
Don't know the impact on this for N. Ireland?

Thanks for your help. I don't know yet if it is DVB-T or DVB-T2 but I have the receiver now anyway so when I get it set up I'll do some experimenting to see if I can receive any of the test transmissions. I presume you mean the 6900 super will not decode the signal if it is DVB-T2? Although I live in Northern Ireland I get a better reception from the Republic of Ireland than I do from the UK, hence the query.

Yup, DVB-T will not open DVB-T2. Let us know how things work out.

Default Freeview in Ireland Using MPEG4

Got the new 6900 super+ rigged up and have discovered that I can indeed decode the freeview from Southern Ireland so it must be DVB-T then. My opinion on the unit so far is very positive especially the PVR part of it. I have been trying it out with just a memory stick so far and it works a treat so a hard drive will be my next purchase I think. I had one problem with it which I can't figure out which was when I had rearranged all the channels into my preferred order. I powered down the unit and when I powered it back up again it had reverted back to the preinstalled factory settings for some reason. A bit annoying considering the length of time it took me. Any ideas anyone why this would happen?

Robbo, I more or less have the same set-up. I cannot help on your losing your settings but it is easy to load channel lists
from a memory stick. But first save your present settings also on your memory stick so you can easily put them back into the receiver. It is a brilliant receiver on its pvr side but you must have the right harddrive. It seems to have a problem with harddrives
that have their own powerbut no problem with drive that are usb powered. My own set-up is a portable Western Digital Passport 250gb that needed no formatting and worked straight out of the box. Very good playback featutes and enough capacity to back-up your computor files as well. Good luck with your set -up. TMULL

nice channel editor for technomate to: Clarke Tech Editor Studio 3.10 <= click here
works on USB file or direct with null modem cable.
most likely: small issue in use with usb stick and making backup of the channellist?
Pressing USB key on remote brings you in the USB submenu
pressing Upload Channel saves the current channellist to the USB stick
selecting the file on the left side (orange background) and pressing OK downloads the file to the TM6900

Are there any decoders available so that the recordings made on the 6900 can be played back on a computer? I have tried this but the computer doesn't recognise them.

.TRP is a less used format, change and join the parts first to .TS.
Code:
http://www.cypheros.de/dvb_e.html
. This should play with vlc:
Code:

Cheers for that info. Had already tried it with VLC but didn't work. I downloaded the TS doctor and now it does indeed play through VLC. Thanks.
