The cable provided by your EV supplier should also be a NULL modem cable. Are you also using a USB adapter with this?
Are you using a COM port that is between 1 and 4?

First of all your USB adapter should have come with a disk as you will need to install a driver for it.
I am on XP but it can't be that much different to reset a port no.: Connect up your box as you've described. Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Computer Management / Device Manager On the right hand side of screen, double click on Ports (COM & LPT). You should see your Serial to USB listed now. Double click on this and under the General Tab make sure the device is set to enabled. Next, under the Settings Tab, click on the Advanced button and set to COM3. Save and apply your changes. Now launch the firmware and flash the box.

In Vista if you click on the Start button and type dev in the Start search box the device manager will show in Programs at the top of the screen you just need to click it
For the USB adapter, have you installed the correct driver from the installation disk?

When you plugged in the USB adapter did Vista bring you through an installation process automatically? Can you see the USB adapter under Ports (COM & LPT) when the adapter is plugged into your PC?

Hi,
I did it.....After I install USB driver, everthing appear as you mention before [ Ports (Com & LPT) ---> USB Serial Port (COM3)].So I can load firmware from my PC to the box. You cooool man.... ![]() After that I just followed instruction given from the 1st thread forum: 7; If this is the first time the box has been flashed your TV you should have the user installation screen with an info window saying (please check your cable status) press the exit button on your remote and proceed to step 8. If the box has been flashed before you will have to press the menu button then highlight config then clear data followed by pin no of 0000. In the next screen erase all channels should be highlighted then press the ok button twice. Once the "wait to delete all channels" window has disappeared press the exit button. Now highlight the installation menu and press ok followed by the pin no again. 8; Now press the blue button (powerscan) (the colour options on the remote and on screen differ for the EVMAX this will be the yellow button) this will open another smaller window with the heading "full power scan". If you are on the T/W network press the OK button, if however you are on the NT! network you will have to highlight within the window the first entry for symbol rate, usually (6.952) and edit this to (6.887)then press OK. The box will now scan all frequencies and find all active transponders for your area, Then it will scan them all for channels. This can be a long process, So go and have a cuppa and a read of your newspaper. 9; If everything has gone to plan you should now have channels But I don't have any channels .......just row with sentences and column with nothing inside.May be I have done a mistake since my box brand new and not do flash before..and I suppose not to do this......[If the box has been flashed before you will have to press the menu button then highlight config then clear data followed by pin no of 0000. In the next screen erase all channels should be highlighted then press the ok button twice. Once the "wait to delete all channels" window has disappeared press the exit button. Now highlight the installation menu and press ok followed by the pin no again.] I tried to do 2 time powerscan but still the same problem... Please help, I am stuck again..... |

Right so you have now flashed the box and I presume your cablefeed is live. Forgot to ask what firmware you were using?
You can have a look here CDF Files for the Eurovox for a CDF (Channel Definition File) for your area/provider and using the UFL software on your PC, download it onto your EV. This way you do not need to do any scan as all the channels are now loaded onto your box. Make sure your box is correctly connected to your TV and cablefeed ie. your cablefeed connected to the RF IN socket and scart connected from TV socket on EV to television. To do a scan Go to Menu / Config / Clear Data (and enter pin 0000 or 1004 will do) and hit OK. Next select the correct symbol rate for your cable provider/area under Factory Default (6.887 or 6.952). Select FULL Powerscan and OK. The scan can take up to 45 mins to run so go and have a cuppa.
