Default Samsung internet-connected TVs to pack BBC iPlayer

Samsung internet-connected TVs to pack BBC iPlayer

Following in the footsteps of Cello TV, Samsung has announced it will be launching a TV line up with BBC iPlayer access built in as part of its new Internet@TV service.

The range of eight new LED, LCD and plasma TVs will be able to connect to the internet via Wifi or Ethernet cable and will feature a widget type interface, with applications providing access to the likes of BBC's catch up service, social networking sites and other video on demand offerings.

This includes a new LOVEFiLM application, that provides users with a direct online movie streaming service for members of the LOVEFiLM unlimited package.

As for something for the musos, Samsung has agreed an exclusive launch with Muzu.tv to provide free access to thousands of hours of music content, including music videos, interviews and live concert footage.

And if one of the eight TVs on offer don't tickle your fancy, Internet@TV will also be available through some Samsung Blu-ray players and Blu-ray home cinema systems as well.

Would you make use of an internet-connected TV? Certainly saves watching Eastenders re-runs from your laptop.
