FetchTV partner programme unveiled
IP Vision has agreed a strategic deal with ANT Software to help bring its FetchTV Freeview service to approved third-party set top boxes. Starting in 2010, IP Vision will support a number of third-party manufacturers in its new partner programme. The initiative will expand the reach of FetchTV content and services on new Freeview and Freeview HD equipment, as well as build the overall FetchTV brand. Under the agreement with ANT, IP Vision will use the ANT Galio platform to enable "rapid integration" of FetchTV to any suitable IP-enabled Freeview receivers in the UK. The programme will also be extended to any emerging service providers in Europe. The Freeview+ accredited FetchTV platform supports a range of over-the-top video on-demand services, along with catch-up platforms such as BBC iPlayer. Premium sports and movies content from Sky Player will also become available on the service in early 2010. "We have worked hard to develop and launch a connected TV solution in the UK market. The FetchTV platform is versatile and is a beneficial addition to any set top box with an ethernet connection, delivering value for consumers, content providers and manufacturers alike," said IP Vision chief executive Eddie Abrams. "Delivering FetchTV on third-party devices is the next natural step for us to ensure that IP Vision and FetchTV continue to lead in the UK over-the-top market, which is set to grow massively in the next five years." ANT president and chief executive Simon Woodward added: "We're pleased to be working with IP Vision integrating FetchTV with the ANT Galio Platform. The FetchTV proposition is an exciting content extension to linear broadcast offerings and naturally complements the vision of the emerging hybrid profiles which are seeing such strong growth in markets such as the UK and Germany." What is Fetch TV? Fetch TV launched in November 2008 - It's a digital TV service that combines Freeview with downloadable content over Broadband. The service offered by Fetch TV is broadly similar to what's on offer with BT Vision, although the main Fetch TV site doesn't go out of its way to outline what content is available for download over their service, or go into too much detail about what content Fetch TV offers. |
