Hi guys i wonder if you can offer any advice please.I bought my house from new 12 years ago with the boiler being an Ideal Elan 2,all pipework being plastic hepworth type,a huge tank, and a Randall TP5 room stat/programmer.
My issue is that when i have my central heating on, the radiators become red hot until the temperature is reached and then go off until the stat calls for heat again. That may sound ok but i wondered if there is any way of reducing the temperature of the radiators instead of them being red hot.Within the boiler i can set the boiler temperature but the manual says that in winter time it should be at the maximum setting.I dont have any thermostatic radiator valves within the house. Many thanks in advance for any help. |

does your rads have two small chrome fittings shaped like a t on its side with the bit on the side going to the radiator and a white or coloured top on the top bit if so then like most Ive seen that is your valve.find out which is inlet remove the plastic cap (clipped on) underneath it should be threaded,go to your nearest central heating supplier and get thermostatic controller that screws straight on to the radiator (inlet.leave outlet fully open ie as is)valve. and there you have it,you can now control each radiator individually.let me know if thats any help mate.
