Default Samsung to start mass producing 3D HDTVs

Samsung to start mass producing 3D HDTVs--January 28, 2010

The mass production of 3D HDTVs has begun, with Samsung leading the way with a purpose built factory producing 40”, 46” and 55” full 3D HDTV panels.

These units require the viewer to use the maker’s 3D Active Glasses.

The televisions will be using a 240 Hz refresh rate, while the 3D active glasses made by Samsung are the ones that automatically turn the left and right lenses on and off to create and maintain the 3D image.

This technology, according to Samsung, is the best way to view 3D HDTV as it cuts down the response time to less than four milliseconds.

This will virtually eliminate the interference between the left and right lenses on the 3D glasses.

There is no mention of how much these systems will cost yet!
