Default SeeSaw unveils launch content

SeeSaw unveils launch content--January 29, 2010

Content from Channel 4, Five, Shed Media and talkbackTHAMES will feature in the early weeks of online TV service SeeSaw. The Arqiva-owned platform has confirmed programming deals that represent some 3,000 hours of content.

“The breadth and depth of the content announced today instantly establishes SeeSaw’s position as a very significant player in the online TV marketplace,” said John Keeling, Platform Controller, SeeSaw. “As a free, homegrown television platform, scheduled for British audiences and advertisers, we look forward to raising the curtain on SeeSaw in the coming weeks.”

Included are Channel 4 programmes Peep Show, The Inbetweeners, Skins and Grand Designs; Five will contribute shows including include The Gadget Show, Neighbours and Home and Away. An agreement with BBC Worldwide was announced in December, leaving ITV as the only major broadcasters whose content will not feature on SeeSaw. However, ITV shows Doc Martin starring Martin Clunes and Stephen Fry’s Kingdom will appear following an agreement with independent producer Digital Rights Group.

Shed Media is the producer of Footballers’ Wives and Bad Girls, while the agreement with talkbackTHAMES includes access to the UK version of The Apprentice.
