Default Euro-Vox Max + a Macintosh

I've just been given a Euro Vox Max to fix because it won't switch on. The display just shows ( : ) colons?

Anyway if it needs flashing does anyone know how to flash it with a macintosh. I've bought a USB to RS232 convertor today so I can plug it into the Mac but its not showing as a device on the Mac. I've also tried using a PC emulator on the Mac but it trys to use COM1 COM2 but there not used because its USB.

Any ideas or should I try someone with a PC.

Thanks

I've also tried today on a pc laptop (but it wasn't connected to cable).

The DnUpMan program is having trouble finding the box. Even when you tell it Com1 it doesn't find the cable box.

Is there another problem with the box?

As I said before the display on the box only shows ( : ) no other lights are on and none of the buttons work on the box or the remote.

Still no joy.

The DnUpMan program can't locate the box through the RS232 cable even on a PC.

I've searched through the forum and haven't found any similar errors so has anyone else seen something similar to this?

It just shows : on the front of the Euro-vox Max box. It doesn't show any other lights like standby and no picture is recieved when its plugged into the TV.

I was told it just stopped working, after a couple of weeks of working fine. Thats why I thought it could be just a simple case of flashing the box.
