Default newbie questions

hi i just signed up to the site yesterday and its been a great help- i was researching info on the eurovox boxs for my ntl connection- so i went ahead and bought one on ebay today cant wait to get it,
anyhow what i wanted to know was do i need to subscribe to ntl on a minimum connection or can i just use their active line in to the house- i recently moved to a new house and the previous owners left their 2 ntl boxes and ive been watching the standard free channels so far with no problem but as i understand the ntl boxes talk back so would i be right in saying i need to leave the standard box connected through a splitter that has no subscription so they wouldn't be suss? also i need an internet connection to the house and i was goin to subscribe to their package but then i noticed the surfboard modems available- do i need to subscribe on a minimal broadband connection to unlock the higher capabilities? or could it be safely done through the current input without having to subscribe to them? if so is there and guides out there? much appreciated any help i can get on my best way to set-up things

no you dont need any package with the new box your waiting for but i would stop using the two boxs you have as they talkback and they might come and turn off the live connection

I would subscribe to at least a minimum TV or Internet connection or the cableco may disconnect the feed to the house
