Cool Eurovox Max Picture/Sound Problem

Firstly, if you are reading this looking to buy a eurovox, DO IT! fantastic machine, capable of saving a few quid!

Now, my problem. Bought the box, plugged it in and did a powerscan. Signal averages 80% and after a few goes got all channels wanted. But i seem to have a problem with a few of the channels, mainly movies, E4+1 and a couple of others where the there is a bad picture (dancing pixels) and constant bad sound (Chirping)

I have bought new aerial cable and checked all aerial connections and it is still there .Tryed doing a manual scan but nope. Why is it that everyone else gets perfect eurovox picture except me!

Has anyone else had this problem?
Somebody please help or advise cause the misses has got one over on me here

Hello Bennyboy

I sadly dont have a fix but thought Id share my experiences I recently got a new Eurovox box V3 off ebay, preloaded with a firmware.

Pretty much have has similar issues to what your describing and yeah seems not many people seem to get this problem.

Ive found others have issues also I tend to get chirping/picture breakup and no signal on Sky sports 3 and Movie channels 5-9 after a powerscan and ive found others that have the same issues.

No real 100% solid cure.

I thought I found a fix the other day, I uploaded the October/November Flash, checked some of the channels and found one at 80% rather then 79% so ran a powerscan on that (full) and well I managed to get all my channels perfectly, but sadly found I was missing BBC3 and other channels... so back to square 1

Id suggest u perhaps try scanning other channels and check to see if the signal on those channels are stronger.

I have a feeling the older Eurovox boxes prooved more stable and reliable.... and not the new V3 chipset ones.

Ive even gone as to far to try different Co-axial cables/attenuators/Arial Boosters u name it... not much helps although its well known they can also help !

For now id suggest scanning and checking the signal on other channels before running a full power scan.

Cheers for the info,
At least i'm not the only person having this problem. One thing i will say, which could help you, is when i first plugged in and power scanned my picture on lots of channels were really bad, but i re-checked my aerial connection at the back and that did actually help, so check yours i guess.
Still disappointing not having perfect on all channels (Mainly movies).
By the way, where do i get the new uploads from? (I take it from a website?...) as i'll give that a go.
I also take it that the signal we recieve via ntl is perfect? And if there is a fault its to do with our end?

Check your PM ive sent details there regarding the flash files

Yeah your not half wrong ive tried connecting the F-connector to the Eurovox box and noticed its not quite a firm connection.... ive always felt cos its not a screw on type connection like the ones with the main NTL boxes the signal degrades or vanishes and theres some truth to this.

You can always try taking off your splitters and running the line direct to your box, I tried that but no good either.
Also tried attenuators/arial boosters with no joy.

It certainly does bug me when I try my old Pace box and funcard and well everythings perfect apart from the fact it cant pick up much since its so limited in scanning/setup.

No ones really bothered to search or come up with a cure but ive been testing for a month now with all sorts.... New higher quality Cable wires/different boosters/taking of splitters/attenuators and every firmware possible... still no joy. Others seem to think its my line/wire... dont see how when the Pace+fun box does it all, ive come to conclusion its the Eurovox box tuner its slightly too weak for UK cable signals.

Just heard from 2 others with similar issues and they said they have the new eurovox max v3 boxes so I think its the actual new chipset on these new boxes thats causing the problem.

Is yours a new box? ie in the last 3 months?

Thx for the reply, which frequency did you change too anyhow?

I got a gut feeling then its perhaps just the way us guys have setup our boxes perhaps were suppose to scan a frequency or special number like....

it was on 6.952 changed to 6.887 as per instructions that came with box.

Scanning the box for channels

Power the box up

Firstly and before you start toscan the box you need to - Press Menu - Go to config - Go to clear data (PIN number 0000 (factory set on mine) as always) select erase all channels, are you sure - YES. wait a few seconds then press exit twice

Next step is power scan

In the menu Go to Installation (PIN 0000), Press the yellow buttonon the remote and the push right to change mode from norm to FULL, and then press OK, the power scan will start and should take approx. 30 mins at the most, let the codes update and wait for a random channel to appear. you should receive on average 220 - 250 channels.

You now need to switch to a non free channel ie. sky sports, and let the box update the codes this could take 5 mins be patient, thats it all channels unlocked.

However

If you do not get all the channels there is a further adjustment you can make to ensure you get all the channels that your area can receive.

Go to menu
Then user Installation
Type 0000 user PIN number
Press yellow button power scan
then change the mode to normal
Then arrow down to the symbol rate and if its 6.952 then change it to 6.887 (or vice versa)
Then press OK and it will carry out a scan like the power scan before
If after you tried this and you are still a few channels short then keep the symbol rate at the new figure but just adjust the scan to FULL and try again.

hth

Cheers RPX3,
But checked out that site and you have to be a member that has posted at least 20 threads before any downloads so will keep trying.
Just printed out those extra instructions at bottom of last post and will see if they make adifference, as my instructions did not include these. And just to answer your previous question, i have the Eurovox Max 3 and i bought it in December. The chap i bought it off did say it would update itself and never to need worry about it.

Thankyou very much Nigel for those instructions.

Just like Bennyboy I didnt recieve those instructions...
And oddly enough ive been messing about with my box and scanning, I just deleted the channels and then ran Factory Reset and chose Wembley as thats the closest area to me and guess what.... Got Skymovies 5-9 working perfectly ! not a glitchy/breakup in sight which ive never had.

All would have been 100% tip top perfect but I cant see BBC 3 and I need that channel more then the movie channels cos of eastender repeats for family ! Gonna try what u suggested for the missing channels will pop back later and update.

Id suggest Bennyboy u try the Factory reset as well as earasing the Channels since only when I did both I got more channels/better stability that way, I cant recall if you tried that.
