Default Improvement at BT Vision

Improvement at BT Vision--February 11, 2010 09.21 UK By Julian Clover

BT’s IPTV network received a welcome boost in the final quarter of 2009 with an additional 15,000 subscribers. As of December 31, 2009, BT Vision’s customer base stood at 451,000. The average number of views per month per subscriber also climbed, increasing by more that 40% on the same quarter in 2008 to 37.

In a statement, BT welcomed the provisional approval given by the BBC Trust in Project Canvas, in which BT is also a prospective shareholder. “Project Canvas would positively transform the UK TV market and we welcome this step forward.”

Like Virgin, BT is also looking to Ofcom’s pay-TV review, which it believes will regulate Sky’s wholesale offer of its premium film and sports channels. “This will be beneficial for both competition and the consumer as it will provide greater choice, cheaper prices and new innovative products,” said the BT statement.
