Official latest 0.9.4923 I guess. I'm new to this box and I got the same problem as you do. Have you tried to pull the same file off an USB drive? I cannot play almost anything over the network.
I hate this box now! I want a VU+ DUO badly

Hi mate, sorry late back as just seen post.Usb stick you can cut-n-paste & watch from things like VLC.Mediaplayer is rubbish to be fair from playing back on Azbox. If we look @ Azbox & just say firmware alone, now we have to download from web sites i think are not trusted.Azbox we once had a good web site for firmware, who is to say the VU+ DUO won't go the same way???.I was going to get a VU+ DUO box then thought what iv just said & changed my mind over this. While i think over all the Azbox is not bad,it drives me mad to think for firmware i will knacker my pc & get loads of spyware into my pc.Untill times change on this i will now not pay for any new satellite receiver. This is not a go @ anyone who sells satellite receivers, but what iv said i think is right & on the hole we should be better looked after.

Hello there
I guess you know this place for official firmwares h**p://fw.azupd.com/ ??? anyway download them put them into an USB and rename the file patch.bin then plug it and reboot the machine. Once the machine display checking USB hit fews times "OK" and you should get a menu for re flashing. (all this in case you didn't know)... =

I had this box 3 weeks now and i can say it's a brilliant popcorn based media player with the HD satellite tuner! not the other way around though!..
The reason why I would throw this out the window and get Vu+ box it's mainly because I came from the dreambox world (since 2001) My first dreambox cost me alot but I have spent far much more for satellite gears in the past that then become obsolete ( cams, cards, receivers, programmers) after fews months because of luck of files and update and people feeding the market basically (but since I had a dreambox never had to buy a thing). My point is that dreambox as well as Vu+ are enigma based in other words fully open source (so me and you could manipulate files if we had the knowledge).
Now there are people trying to hack the AZbox drivers for the tuner in order to make it enigma2 compatible (as the hardware could handle it very well) . But even if they successfully do it!! then to stabilized fix issue and have quite stable firmware could take 1 or 2 years... Now look how fast technology is moving?...
Sorry I can't wait that long!!! I need it now!!! also if you not into cs and you don't care on things like blind scans or other advanced functions that you would expect from a proper Linux sat Box then the Azbox it's a good machine. But to me is making swearing at the thing and the case it's getting deep dents !!! My dreambox has about 20 plugins installed, 20 CS servers and 35 clients to talk to 24/7 and it auto restart once a day (just because I have set it that way) and never crush (not bad for a 7 years old machine).
Went off topic but I wish I would have read something like this before buying an Azbox (to save 25% off the price Vu+).
AZBOX? NO THANKS!!!
Regards
