Default Scans macs but none work help!

Hi,

I have been using DHCP Sniffer to scan for my local area macs. I have scanned for them without inputting a base mac and without using bruteforce as I was told this is the new way to scan for them now-a-days.

However I am finding lots of macs and have tryed all the macs I found and most of the macs have the Virgin Media Activation Page appear. I was told this means there dead macs but if this is the case why is all the macs I find are no good.

I am postive my modem is setup correct as I had a working mac until it went off. However I can no longer seem to find any working macs so any help would be thankful why I maybe can't find working macs thanks.

It is the end for you lol, It may be that the BPI is now 1.1, If you came on here you would know that, But it looks like you only come on here when you need 2 get your modem up and running... So have a search and read up and you will see alot of posts about it.

Does my mate have to live in the same UBR as me, I was told I have to use a diffrent UBR then mine. Mine is UBR 8 so can I use any other UBR within my city expect UBR 8 that am based in. I don't fully understand how this works. However I did get told that any UBR within my city will work expect for mine. Is this true or not. Please correct me if am incorrect.

You are UBR8 which means you can use MACs from any other UBR in your region (UBR1 through 7 and UBR9).

Sniff from your mates house. Ideally now you want to get MACs sniffed from the same UBR on a different CPC...so about 1-2 miles away.

Leave DHCPSniffer running for >24hrs without entering a base MAC or trying bruteforce.

You want to try any MACs found at home...which give a config file in the sniff results.

Correction:

You want to try any MACs (which show a bootfile) sniffed from your mates house, on your own modem at your house.
