Default alph@phat newbie help please

Hi guys, Im helping out a pal that has a DBOX2. Im a newbie to cable but ok with sat box patching.

Ive just flashed a DBOX2 with the latest Alph@phat image using a null modem cable using Stacks guide), and the box receives all FTA channels.

Its a hugh learning curve and Im trying my best to wade thru all the relevant posts.

Unfortuately, Im struggling with inputting the keys using the remote. I can get to /var/keys, but i cant see where I put the 00 and 001 keys, as this DIR is empty. Ive read that I need to access /var/keys/softcam.key but i
I cant find it.

Can anybody help ? Thanks

ftp'ing the necessary files is easy once you've done it once , have a read of this thread it explains it all , you dont need a cross over if you go through a router , can even be done wireless

Transfering Magic Files

Ok guys please stay with me here;

I've reflashed the box using a null modem, put on Commando 11.3.

I downloaded the magic files from the downloads section.

I've ftp'd the cams to /var/bin/emu. When I went to the /var/keys folder, the key files in there already were newer than the ones downloaded, so I didnt overwrite them.

I changed attributes for emu files to 755.

I went into DBOX2, blue button, extras, softcam, turned on Mgcamd and Evocamd.

Then did a bruteforce scan, then left it on SS1.

Nothing Ahhhhhhhhh

The funny thing is, I dont even have bloody cable. Is there something that Ive done wrong?? I've checked all the stickies, read all the posts, come on guys I've only got so much hair to pull out!!!!

pmsl @TT

you need a cable signal to get the channels mate lol

and i would overwrite your keys folder with the keys folder provided in the magicfiles_rar download.

the magic files are the correct ones so install them plus only enable evocam.
