Default NTL Box help...

Hello All,
Could someone please give me some advice or maybe point me in the right direction of where I could find the right information what I'm after ie: tutorials, etc.

I'm totally new to cable world, I was just about to buy a eurovox box last week but luckily I noticed the neg3 information and some advice from people on here who advised me not to waste my money due to not getting too much use out of it.

I was talking to a friend in work yesterday about these and he said he had two old NTL boxes in the house which had been chipped years ago that he wasn't using and said I could have them.

The advice im after is would these still work? The little information I've come across is as long as its chipped then the only thing I need to do/get is the funcard updated with the newest codes.

If im correct in thinking that then could someone point me in the right direction for a simple tutorial for me to have a go at the coding.

Fingers crossed this can be done.

Many thanks

Guy

It can be done but it depends wether your area is N3 yet,all you will proably get is 2-4 weeks out of it,also you need a programmer and software.Do a search on here for novice angel guide.

Just reading up on the infinity phoenix usb programmer and its around £40! Is there any other programmers anyone can suggest for cheaper? or maybe anywhere I can pick up a card pre-coded?

Thanks for the help.

First thanks, for saying tiger and not tiger 56 whish i could lop that off lol

second prob be cheaper to get someone to do it for you,if you have the box and a card it should all pay for itself.

Thanks again Tiger,

I dont know anyone who can do it, I did ask my mate who im getting the box off does he know anyone but he said he doesn't.

Is there anyone who does this on here? or is it not allowed? sorry if it isn't.

One other thing, just to make sure, once a box is chipped then does it ever need to be updated? or is it only ever the card.

Thanks for all the help.

Mate you've got into this too late. TBH i'd save yourself the hassle and put it on ebay...you'll only get a couple of weeks / months out of it.

Better off spending the endless hours needed to learn it, doing a proper job and buying a sub with your wages lol

No point paying someone else to chip it cos it'll go off v soon

I just want it to get me through the rest of the football season, hopefully VM will change Swansea to N3 last thats what im hoping.

Im getting the chipped box free so I only need the card re-coded.
