Default setting up dm800 for 1st motorised install

Hi Guys / Gurls , I am in process of moving from cable to sat , replaced my tuner in DM800 with sat tuner , put my pole up nice and plumb today , tomorrow is dish day , anyhow i am prepping my dm and trying to load some sat settings (as i dont have a sat meter) . I have downloaded "Settings By C@JTON" but struggling to transfer to my box , dbedit is playing up , can i just download vhannibal from yellow panel , and complete install / sat search with them settings ? or anybody have another set of settings to help a sat noob complete what will hopefully be a smooth install

any tips most welcome , tia

Do you have a Sky dish setup already?

The main thing you need to set up without a meter is a signal quality screen, and the ability to enter the detail for any transponder. So if you can get the details for 11325H on Thor sorted, that will be enough to get the dish aligned. You also need to have the ability to move the motor via Diseqc 1.2.

The sky dish is useful, as you can use it to check that the box is working OK, with whatever software you've managed/manage to stick on it.

The box won'et know what satellite its pointing at, all it does is check that it's getting a signal on one of the transponders it has listed for each satellite. When you scan one of them that has a signal, and get channels, you can see if they are ones that were expected for the satellite you thought you had for that tp.

All the satellites/transponders/channels are listed here: LyngSat - Lyngemark Satellite

You have to understand how ALL satellite receivers work, in that respect:-

You have a satellite list, each satellite contains a

Transponder List, each transponder contains channels.

So by having channels for Thor already in the receiver, they should already be associated with their respective Transponders on the rspective satellite.

Eg, you choose a sat from the list, you choose a transponder, you scan it, you get channels. If you are pointed at the correct sat, those channels are listed on lyngsat for that tp on that sat.

Try it on your sky dish, that is on 28E.
