Hey all,
So yeah, we know all about Virgin's pathetic attempts to scare us with the whole "You are using illegal equipment" channel that the EV picks up. However, I done a power scan last night and coming through the channels it had a different message. It was something along the lines of "To keep the package you were enjoying for free, phone us on xxxxxxx, no questions asked". I have three questions about this. 1: Is that a standard hotline for new recruits? 2: Is there really no questions asked? 3: Are they seriously suggesting that we may qualify for a discount? What do we think folks? |

Its a reasonably standard new customer helpline and they really dont ask any questions regarding "previous" equipment. Your treated as a new customer. The "free" bit will be the standard 3 months free deal for new customers on certain packages.
VM really aren't bothered about your past, they are just desperate for new customers. |

TheCoder,
can I ask how much you pay a month to VM many years ago I was paying the standard rate at the time, roughly £40-45 for all 3 services (Basic TV only) anyway I phoned up gave them, the I'm off to sky etc, any way the first person I spoke to wouldn't entertain me, so I cancelled my package, phoned back a couple of weeks later and got another guy, who couldn't do enough to keep me on VM hence my "reduced rate" deal for "life I'm currently paying around £27 for all 3 services (inc basic TV) I have also just wangled the V+ box for free installation (it should of been £49 for installation) and 6 months free (should be £5 a month) wish I'd of stood me ground and gone for 12 moths free now ![]() ![]() my point being unless you ask (or try your hand) you won't get anything off VM |

They've pretty much standardised on prices these days so there aren't really many special offers except the new customer deals of half price for three months (or even free for 3 months on some high end packages).
I think the standard deal for XL (20Meg) broadband and phone is £31 per month with a free stb thrown in for the M package (very limited). If you dont have the phone then you end up paying nearly as much and you dont get the stb for TV (think its £29). If you use the website to check your package price you'll usually find that they dont deviate too much from the standard prices. They might just give you something a little non standard but its usually not of sufficinet value to warrant you signing into another 12 month contract ! |

Contacted V****** today. Had a Eurovox for about 4 years and just getting ready to pre-empt N3. I had been paying £48 for phone, TV and 10Mb Broadband. probably more than i should have been tbh. I connected their box up (first time since I connected the Eurovox). The best deal I could get was £54 for 2 months then £67 after that for phone, TV L, all Sky Sports channels, 10Mb Broadband and a V+ HD box. They wanted £75 to self install the V+ box. I got it to £45 but they wouldn't budge on that. I could have got roughly the same deal from Sky for £59 but there are two 120ft trees at the bottom of the garden that are directly in the path of a Sky dish, which basically means its V****** or nothing. I'm sure some of the wheeler dealers on here could have got a better deal, but I'm just posting so that people have some sort of benchmark (albeit probably a high one) to work from
