Default SKY + query

Can someone confirm or disprove the following please.

Dose a Sky viewing card have to be pared to the Sky + box for the recording and live pause function to work?

I have a Sky + box and Sky + subscription and it all works OK, but when I try the card in another box the recording function doesn't work.

Recording would only work on FTA and non-premium chanels(sport/movies) in unpaired box.

I'm not 100% but i'm sure that recording is only possible with a valid sub

For the Sky+ function to work the card must be in the box it is paired to.

Even if you have a full sub if the card isn't paired it won't work. Sky also have to switch on the Sky+ function.

You can still have the recording function without a sub, but you have to pay a nominal fee to still be able use it. No idea what it is.

Also anything not FTA/FTV you recorded when you had the valid sub will be not be accessible

You will only be able to view stuff that was recorded from a FTA/FTV station and only if you pay Sky to keep the PVR function

So technically I'm right lol

Typical of sky they happily give you the box (or sell it to you if they can)
but you still need to pay them the pleasure of using it

That explains why they are so happy to give these things away free
they get there money in the end...

OK sorted.

record and pause function would not work properly with new box and old card, even though the card was from a sky+ box with valid subscription.

As soon as I installed the box at my Mum & Dad's put in there card and called sky to get the card paired to the box it all worked perfectly.

I wanted to know so I could test the second hand sky+ box before I installed it, but it doesn't seam possible to do that.
