With all the media attention facing dogs..........which would you say is best all rounder (around kids)
a)rottweiler b) doberman c)german shepherd I know there is more and i think a rotty is a bad pick as i feel these are dangerous dogs.....never had one though so i cant really say but they are the most feared i think...... |

I would say german shepard out of them, I had a johnsons american bulldog and it was an amazing family dog great with kids and the best guard dog i have ever had, but it hated staffys for some reason.
I dont think its a breed thing in most cases, its an owner thing. If a dog is brought up and trained right it should never let you down. But as with any dog never leave it unattended with kids. Always make sure your top dog ![]() But whatever dog you pick it will be a good on. Good luck mate Last edited by Robbie1990; 18-04-10 at 04:32 PM. |

There's none of them safe around kids. They can turn in the blink of an eye. My brother had one of these 'toy' dogs', looked like a rat to me, but it bit his son on the face. Missed an eye by millimetres. If you leave them unsupervised, with kids around, you don't deserve to have kids.

I dont know much about dogs, but I do know rottweilers are generally considered to be "chav dogs" and Id like to distance myself as far away from them as possible, which is quite ironic as they hang around at the bloody bottom of my street!
Then again you need a guard dog, so it may be best to get one. Then again, why do you need one? Unless of course you get a lot of robberies in your area? EDIT: Oops, forgot the kids!
