I was recently contacted by our cable company and they told me that they need to come into my house because their is a leak in my cable? What in the world does this mean? I have had no trouble on my end cablewise so I got to thinking after the call exactly what does this mean?

They have probably detected a short circuit on your cable feed. Disconnect any hacked equipment and splitters you have added and invite them around.

So using a splitter on the inside of your home to run cable to a second television could creat some sort of a short circuit that the cable company would pick up on? I never knew that.

No, Read the thread properly, what I mean is the box he has got as more than likely got a fault on it like lincsat said, Eg: The feedback might not be cut or a short, very easliy detected in both cases. Thats what I was refering too.

If cable came round and seen a splitter there and he is not supposed to have it, what do you think they would say, "Oh you have a snide box somewhere have you, Can you get me one" lol

First of all I am sorry but the only thing that I may be doing wrong woud be that I do run a splitter from my living room to my bedroom. And personally at the price of cable I really don't care all that much. I am sure I am not the only one that does that. Other than that I have no channels or anything else that I am getting for free. Was just curious what else might cause a cable leak because I had never heard of it before.

As I said earlier, you could have a short circuit somewhere on the bits you've added, maybe some braid is touching the centre core on the extension cable, or maybe you have a faulty splitter.
If you remove everything you added and invite them round, they can check their cables and they should then be happy and leave you alone. |
