Default sky hd problem

hi guys

recently picked up a sky hd box ( thompson ) , unplugged my sky + box which works fine on the dish and lnb , plugged in the sky hd box , booted it up and got message on screen sayin no satellite signal is being recieved , have tried various things , changing default transponders , etc , still to no avail , had a quick look at power supply and it looks fine , have noticed that sometimes after powering up and gettin message on screen that the number in the message box at the right hand corner changes from 29 to 28 , dont know if thats relevant or not but thought would mention it just in case someone knows

also can these boes be used like the sky + boxes ie , no need for a card to recieve the fta channels

also took the box to a mates house to try it and still had the same problem , but as stated earlier my sky + box works fine on the feed that i trying to get my hd box to work on

thx in advance

It is the same cards, but that is irrelevant anyway.

Unless you have a dodgy conection at the back of the box, it is most likly that the box is faulty, specifically the caps in the power supply. There are kits available to fix it. Visit Satcure or ebay, for further details.
